SPRING
Whitewater Rafting
If you’re looking to crash through some rapids to welcome the spring season, look no further than a whitewater rafting adventure when the water is high and the adrenaline is pumping. Not for the faint of heart, this full day on the Main Fork of the Salmon River will plunge through Class IV and V rapids with some headwaters reaching over 20′ during high runoff. You’ll take a break on one of the Salmon’s pristine white sand beaches around lunchtime for a gourmet meal prepared by your guides and take some time to relax and recharge. Between the fun-filled rapids, you’ll gain some historical knowledge as you float by historic mining operations, early housing developments from over a century ago, and more Idaho features.
Morel Hunt
Spend a day expanding your knowledge of an often elusive yet highly sought-after treat, the McCall Morel mushroom. You’ll start the morning with an exploratory class led by a Southern Idaho Mycological Association member covering the basics of mushroom types, where to find them, and other basic information and precautions. You’ll then head out into the woods to put your newly acquired mushroom know-how to the test. You’ll enjoy a picnic lunch in the woods and return to Shore Lodge to explore the day’s findings and the collected mushrooms. You’ll also hear a bit from our executive chef, who will offer culinary advice on preparing and enjoying your mushrooms and send you home with delicious morel mushroom recipes.
