McCall, Idaho, is a charming and majestic town with a rich history dating to the 1890s. Founded by Tom McCall, the 1890s served as a time of rapid growth and development that established a firm foundation for what McCall is today. Part of this growth consisted of its striking Finnish-style and mid-century architecture from the 1950s through the 1970s. One key player in the industry, infusing McCall’s architectural history into his designs, is Idaho-based Architect Jevon Truex of J Truex Architecture.

With stunning architectural gems such as Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, The Young/Cordray House, and McCall US Bank, Jevon seizes the opportunity of merging the town’s historical authenticity with mountain modern designs across Whitetail Club’s ‘Evergreen’ and ‘Foothills’ design models.

“Taking McCall’s surrounding area into consideration was paramount in the ideation of each design. The town was influential because we were mindful of the site’s topography, solar exposure, and historical properties that retain the city’s rich heritage,” said Jevon Truex, Owner at J Truex Architecture. “When the earliest cabins were built in McCall, you could see these massive beams holding up the roof. Nowadays, the beams are typically concealed, but we’ve exposed them to give the interior a rustic look and feel.”

These design-build homes were also designed to embrace the outdoor experience, with operable sliding doors that allow for increased natural lighting and unobstructed mountain views. Even on days when residents want to tune into nature’s soundscapes, they can simply slide the door open and bask in the fresh mountain air. To comply with nature’s seasonal changes, Truex was exceptionally strategic in his choice of materials. The Evergreen and Foothills Design-Build Models include steel, glass, wood beams, timber, stone veneers, concrete, river rock stone, and tamarack wood flooring. Like a sculptor, these small details come together to form a piece of a work of art, which in this case, it could be your next home!

“Today’s buyer is seeking a home where they can work and live. In the past, proximity to an airport was of maximum importance. Due to the slower pace in business travel, my clients are interested in having their own private office space, a conference room, and a media room where they are fully equipped to run their business from home,” said Truex. “Whitetail Club’s Design-Build Collection makes it attainable for them to have all three. Another advantage is that they don’t have to travel far to recharge and renew after a demanding week of meetings and deadlines.”

With a variety of authentic mountain-lake amenities, members can mountain bike or Nordic ski on the property’s custom trail systems, get out on Payette Lake to paddleboard or boat, or enjoy Pacific Northwest dining at the clubhouse. For our golfers, members can unwind by swinging the club on our scenic 18-hole, par-72 course that comprises 7,200 yards. Even on days when the snow begins to hit the ground, golfers have the option of visiting The Studio, a state-of-the-art virtual training facility featuring hyper-realistic ball-flight and performance-enhancing graphics to show a complete analysis of each swing.
