We never understood the great debate between city versus mountain life. Their stark differences are like comparing apples to oranges. But, if we had to pick one, it’s a relatively easy choice. Embracing a mountain lifestyle offers you the chance to slow down and connect with nature, especially when you make the stunning mountains of McCall, Idaho, your home.
Fewer Skyscrapers, More Mountain Ranges
Urban cities across the United States feature stunning skylines adorned with dozens of skyscrapers. Iconic structures like the Empire State Building in New York City and the Space Needle in Seattle are architectural marvels. However, there’s truly no better backdrop for your home than the breathtaking landscapes crafted by Mother Nature herself.
Replace the towering skyscrapers with soaring Ponderosa Pines, narrow canals with the pristine shores of Payette Lake, and skyline with majestic views of glacial carved mountain ranges. Living in the mountains immerses you in stunning natural landscapes that capture your attention. Depending on the location and phase of your home at Whitetail Club, your views may include the Salmon River Mountains, Payette Lake, our award-winning golf course, expansive valleys, or tranquil meadows. Additionally, on special occasions, you might witness a spectacular sight. During significant solar storms, the stunning Northern Lights, or Aurora Borealis, can illuminate the skies above our community.

Fewer Traditional Neighbors, More Local Neighbors
Now, we don’t want to mislead you. At Whitetail Club, we pride ourselves on being a close-knit, welcoming community where you and your kids can make friendships that last a lifetime. But, unlike in a city, odds are, you’ll run into some local neighbors who have been calling McCall, Idaho, home for centuries. They occasionally may even pay you a pleasantly unexpected visit in your backyard to say hi.
McCall’s local wildlife contributes to the charm of choosing a mountain lifestyle. From the furry Whitetail Deer, which inspired our club’s name, to majestic Ospreys, Hawks, or Falcons soaring overhead, and even the occasional Moose with her calf, our local neighbors serve as a reminder of the beauty of living in the mountains and connect you deeper with your surroundings.

Fewer Limits, More Seasonal Experiences
Unless you’ve experienced it firsthand, you may not fully appreciate the unique beauty of living in a year-round seasonal destination like Whitetail Club. While lounging by the beach in December may sound appealing to some, life here offers a variety of year-round adventures and experiences that change with each season.
McCall’s seasonal changes are both dramatic and beautiful. Annually, McCall receives an impressive 138 inches of snowfall, making it a winter wonderland for outdoor enthusiasts. Activities such as snowmobiling through the scenic backcountry of Payette National Forest, skiing on the pristine slopes at Brundage Mountain, and ice skating on Payette Lake are just a few cold-weather experiences that await. Our winter can still be enjoyed into early spring when activities like Nordic skiing and snowshoeing can be done right on the property, or you can venture off to enjoy a soothing soak at one of Idaho’s famed hot springs nearby.
As the temperatures warm and the snow caps begin to melt, McCall transforms into a mountain-lake hotspot during the summer, with average temperatures around 80°F. Here, Whitetail Club members soak up the sun at the clubhouse’s private beachfront, embark on boat excursions to North Beach, and gather at the Whitetail Club park for friendly competitions of beach volleyball, among other activities!
Later in the year, the cooler days of fall invite you to enjoy thrilling adventures, whether it’s revving engines in the backcountry on an ATV or spending leisurely days on our award-winning golf course. Members also have access to the property’s indoor and outdoor pickleball and tennis courts for lessons, matches, or club competitions. With each season presenting unique activities, excursions, or adventures, there’s always something new to experience.

Fewer Crowds, More Trees
Living in a highly dense metropolitan city means there is no shortage of people. And in turn, to make more space for infrastructure, there are fewer trees. But not here at Whitetail Club.
Our four-season backyard is our year-round playground. With 20 kilometers of groomed Nordic Ski trails and 10 miles of single-track mountain biking trails right on the property, there’s no shortage of trees or outdoor adventure. With equipment at the ready at The Trailhead, meticulously maintained trails, and various trails to accommodate for all skill levels, spending time and getting your daily dose of outdoor activity is easy at Whitetail Club.
