Payette Lake
McCall, Idaho Payette Lake

McCall is nestled in Idaho’s Salmon River Mountains and rests on the southern shore of Payette Lake,

a 5,330-acre expanse of pristine, glacial water with thousands of years of memories. The town’s history is rooted in the spirit of recreation and exploration. In the late 19th century, as the U.S. population grew exponentially, the McCall family traded a team of horses for a cabin and 160 acres of land. They developed this into a place they could call home. Within the dense Ponderosa pines, they established a school, a hotel, a saloon, and a post office, and over time, McCall became a celebrated destination for adventurous pursuits.

While a popular travel destination,

McCall is home to a population of just over 4,000, keeping an authentic small-town feel. The downtown boasts many restaurants, a local theater, an ice-skating rink, boutique shopping, and an active events calendar, including a seasonal Farmer’s Market.
