Tournament Time: Get Ready for the 2016 Golf Season
The centerpiece of our mountain community is the award-winning golf course that meanders through acres of pines. We’ve all been waiting patiently to kick off the golf season with a bang.
May is here; the wait is over! Here’s a roundup of our signature events headlining the season’s calendar.
Whitetail Club’s Season Opening Tournament and Member Mixer is set for 1 p.m. Saturday, May 28. The play, exclusively available to members and their guests, is in four-person teams. If you need a group, the golf staff will be happy to pair you. All players regardless of handicap are encouraged to sign up; the format will be low-key and fun for everyone (i.e., two best balls out of four). Round out this highly-anticipated day of golf at our Member Mixer from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Golf Shop & Grille. RSVP by May 23.
Cost is $20 per person (guest green fees apply) for golf and $15 per person for the mixer.
The Ladies Member Guest Tournament returns for its seventh edition Wednesday, July 13 through Friday, July 15. Bring your pearls of golf wisdom for a few days of stimulating summertime competition alongside fellow members and their guests. Whether you’re a seasoned player or an eager rookie, this tournament is for you. The itinerary is packed with ample time for golf and leisure by way of practice and tournament rounds, contests, live music, cocktails, luncheons and this year’s exciting new element, a Happy Hour Lake Cruise. RSVP by June 28.
Cost is $450 per team plus tax (the full fee will be charged to the member’s account upon receiving reservation).
Whitetail Club kids can also dig in to the course on Saturday, July 16 with a competition designed just for them. Young players participating in the Junior Club Championship will play a specified number of holes based on their age (split into two age groups: 12 & under and 13-18). Tee time is 11 a.m. for the older group and 1 p.m. for the younger players. An after-party and awards ceremony will crown a girls and boys club champion at The Fish & Swim Club. RSVP by July 11.
Cost is $30 per child.
The Club Championship on July 23-24 encourages all Whitetail Club members to compete in a 36-hole “Count Them All Just Like On TV” tournament. The weekend competition, formerly an August event, is in July and has space for everyone to participate. Flights are divided among women and men, senior and super-senior, and for the first time, we’ll have a Net Flight for both women and men. Test your individual skills against the field! Players will be recognized for their performance in the Club Championship after play on Sunday at the awards party at Golf Grille. RSVP by July 18.
Cost is $60 per person.
Whitetail Club’s signature event of the summer, the Men’s Invitational Golf Tournament, returns to our championship course August 3-6. Talented teams of two will go head-to-head for four days of golf, parties and comradery. When the tournament ends on Saturday afternoon, the fun will continue with the Summer Concert. RSVP by July 20.
Cost is $1,950 plus tax per team (the full fee will be charged to the member’s account up receiving RSVP).
Whitetail Cup is our twist on the classic biennial golf tournament, in which two teams are formed and player pairs compete against each other in two 18-hole matches to earn points for their respective teams. The game changes every nine holes— from Better Ball & Chapman to Better Ball & Modified Scotch—and will be handicapped so everyone has the chance to compete. We’ll celebrate the winning team at the awards ceremony and their image will appear on a shiny trophy displayed in the Golf Shop through next season. The third edition of this increasingly spirited Whitetail Club tournament takes place August 12-14. RSVP by June 13.
Cost is $150 per person.
Brilliant pairs are welcome to compete in the premier Couples Tournament in the Pacific Northwest. The 11th annual Payette Cup is a weekend-long event with ample time to hit the links and socialize with friends when the sun goes down. It’s open to members, member guests and Shore Lodge guests, too! From August 25-27, players will compete in a 36-hole competition, while enjoying activities including a horse race, contests, fine dining, and more. RSVP by August 10.
Cost is $1,900 for Shore Lodge Guest Couple; $900 for Members Guest Couple; $750 for Members. (Plus tax & resort fee for SL guests.)
When the season winds down in the fall, we’ll have a Closing Day Golf Tournament and Member Mixer for members and guests to bid adieu to the course. Until next year! The 2016 season closing event for members and guests is slated for October 15. RSVP by Oct. 10.
Cost is $20 per person (additional green fee for guests) and $15 per person for the mixer.
